The CCDC Story

CCDC began in 1973 as a Parent’s Day Out program and ministry of Lake Highlands United Methodist Church (LHUMC) providing Christian loving care for children while parents had a day to engage in their own activities.  Due to a growing need to accommodate more children with quality care, the program eventually expanded from one to four days a week.  In 1977, the program was named the Christian Childhood Development Center and licensed in compliance with the Texas Department of Protective and Regulatory Services’ “Minimum Standards and Guidelines” (Minimum Standards).  At that time, additional classes were formed, and CCDC had a daily enrollment of 102 children.

CCDC began a new program design in 1980.  In addition to the Parent’s Day Out program, which provided care and training for infants and children through age 2, a Preschool program for the education of young children aged 2 through 5 was implemented.  At present, CCDC is licensed, staffed, and equipped to meet the needs of more than 130 children a day, four days a week.
